6:30 am:    The driver picked up all the sponsors at the office of the pinklotus travel company. We began our charity trip with a visit to the Cam Phong pagoda, which is the home of many unhappy people.

 

 

8:00 am:  The charity group arrived at the pagoda, where all people were eager to share their kindness by bringing small gifts to help the homeless and orphans to live a more comfortable life.

 

 

8:10 am:    We unloaded all the gifts at Cam Phong temple and divide them amongst everyone.

 

 

 

8:30am: People split up into groups to take care and help these needy people. There were three groups in total : Group 1 for the elderly, Group 2 for the children and Group 3 for the disabled people.

Group1:  While the leader organized small activities like singing, storytelling and guiding simple exercises, other people helped the elderly to cut their nails. Talking to them helped to raise the spirit, happiness and optimism. Finally, we gave gifts to everybody.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Group2 :  Leaders organized games:  Group dancing and singing, quizzes with prizes, talking to each other, cutting their nails and giving presents to them. Perhaps through the lack of parenting the children are all very united, welcoming and also really friendly.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Group3:   In charge of the disabled people, who can’t take care of themselves. We helped with bathing, cleaning their old clothes, dressing them with new clothes, cutting their nails and hairs, cleaning their beds, rooms and all facilities.

 

 

 

 

 

 

10:00am: After finishing their group activities, group 1 and 2 assist group 3 to deal with the remaining work: Cleaning personal belongings, washing blankets and pillows and replacing old pillows and blankets with new ones. Then new fans were installed and washing machines were set up in appropriate places.

 

11:30am: After all the work was completed, we assisted to bring lunch for the children and the elderly.

 

 

 

 

12:30pm: After saying farewell to everyone our group handed over the remaining gifts to the temple. Looking into all these joyful faces, we knew that this special charity trip was more than successful. The sponsors brought happiness and warmth to these unfortunate people at the Cam Phong Pagoda during this cold Christmas Season.

 

12:45pm: The Charity trip continued by visiting other unlucky families, who live in grinding poverty.

 

 

 

 

 

Their houses don’t look like many other houses; they are actually huts, which were built by their neighbours to get some shade from the sun and to provide shelter from the rain. However, when it rains, the huts are leaking so the furniture and the people who live there still get wet. There is no comparison with other families, because these people live by themselves without any relatives at all.

Looking at their pale and haggard faces, tears full of happiness in their eyes speak for themselves. We know, that they feel great pleasure seeing us as they feel reunited when meeting  us . So, it's a priceless gift.

 

 

 

 

 

Their life is very miserable, but they always stay together, take care of each other and encourage each other. We admire them for their loveliness.

 

 

 

Look at the young little boy deep asleep, he seemed unconscious of the hunger around him. He might have had a nice dream, a fairytale where he was adopted by kind and warmhearted parents, so he can go to school. He is afraid of waking up again as he doesn’t want to face the bitterness of his life.

Before the charity trip came to an end, we took a group photo to save the moment. The land might be poor but it is rich in love and we all keep lovely memories in our hearts from that meaningful day.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

16:00: After all the work was done, the driver brought our team back to HCM city. We all fell very joyful. Althought it was only one day, but we contributed to bring joy and happiness to these unfortunate people.
