Oraganization christmas for the homeless elderly

The atmosphere of Christmas is approaching, everyone is busy enjoying the arrival of the New Year. It is an occasion for people to decorate everything, having  magnificent Christmas occasions for family reunions to enjoy Christmas dinner. But not everyone is lucky so. Somewhere around us there is still the unhappiness which also needs to be seen. Especially, the elderly who are abandoned, homeless and without any relatives. They have to live the last days of life with each other, help and share with each other.

So why don’t we bring the spiritual values together, warmth and loveliness, a meaningful small gift to dispel the loneliness and the twilight years.

The main reason why Pink Lotus held a charity on Christmas day was to help single elderly have fun and joy at Christmas day. We went to the shelter on a beautiful winter morning. The road which led to the shelters was quite winding. It was hard to remember were we came from due to the zigzag path.

Upon arrival, we noticed the warm welcoming, genuine hospitality and the happiness of Ms Kinh and the elderly at this place. Looking around, you notice that the campus of the nursing home is quite large and airy. Their accommodation is small, but very neat and clean.

 

After meeting and gaining first impressions, the members of the Pinklotus Team embarked on their mission, each person using their individual talents to help the elderly. Some of them running into the kitchen to prepare lunch, another group gathered in the living room to talk with the elderly about their health. My boss, Ms. Thuy gave a very emotional speech. The elderly haven’t got any relatives in their lives and they are hoping to keep healthy. Please keep in mind that there is “us” and many others, who will always care and share with the elderly. My boss had just finished speaking, all ederly bursted into tears silently because they were to touched.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Then we organized games with Ms Thuy, Ms Hương and Ms Lan as leaders, just to make their limbs move. But the most exciting activity was the singing competition and the Pink Lotus Idol.  Who would have thought that the elderly of this “Camillo house” can sing so well. Faces of everyone are filled with smiles so the elderly seemed obviously very happy.

 

Another part of the program which is equally important is the cuisine group. Everybody had to do their piece like shredding mushrooms or peeling eggs while talking and joking to each other.

The Pink Lotus Team cooked two dishes: Beef Ragu and Chicken soup and as dessert: fresh watermelons and Green tea. Everything looked so delicious. The Chefcook was my boss – Ms Thuy. While eating, all of the elderly felt very well as people forgot their tiredness and worries.  The elderly said, that the food was more delicous than in a 5* Restaurant which made my boss smile.

 

Our visit at the shelters were completed sucessfully. A lot of people felt, that not only we gave a feeling of joy for this Christmas, but also did the elderly give us a sense of Christmas. The air this winter will be cold and crisp again, but peoples affection in here are very warm.
