Year end volunteer program: Organizing Christmas Party for abandoned elder

Year end volunteer program:

Organizing Christmas Party for abandoned elder

Christmas is the time everybody celebrates and spends their time with their loved ones. There are exchanging of gifts, left and right parties, social gatherings as well as family reunions. But we cannot forget the fact that there are still many poor people without home and family, especially the abandoned elder. The end of their life is so confusing, frustrating, scary, and lonely.  So, why we don’t bring Christ to their broken life?

That is the reason Pink Lotus Travel would like to prepare gifts and organize a small Christmas party for abandoned elder at Camillo Shelters for elderly.

When and Where?

On: 25 Dec 2010

At: Camillo Shelter for elderly

Add: 697/485/60 Phạm Thế Hiển St., W. 8, Dist. 8, HCMC

Contact: Ms Kính -  090 3911 508

This volunteer program included spending time with the elder, bringing gifts, singing, playing, talking, taking a walk, cooking a meal. These activities that will provide comfort memories for the resident when friends and family are absent….

With me this is the most meaningful Christmas. The volunteer in this shelter make me to see how others live their lives. And when you compare yourself to those less fortunate than you, you will feel so lucky. How could they possibly live with such troubles yet still manage to remain optimistic? They were still cheerful by the way they laughed and played with one another. Seeing the elder's courage, I don't think any troubles in my life are worth complaining about. I'm so thankful to these residents here, because without them, I would still be self-pitying and blind. I will take part in more volunteer trip to help more people's lives the same way they have helped mine.
