Tour itinerary
AM: We kick start our day to unveil the highlights of one of Asia’s most vibrant and welcoming cities, Saigon (as it is still popularly known) is a cultural melting pot with something to offer every traveler. There is no better for visiting Saigon while it passes through a remarkable and rapid phase of transformation will fascinate and delight. Above all, experiencing the heartfelt warmth and humour for which the Saigonese are renowned will stay with you long after you’ve departed for home. District 1 remains the heart of Saigon still with its many historic French-built landmarks - the Opera House, Notre Dame Cathedral, and Hotel de Ville to name but a few, the former Presidential Palace, the Central Post Office and the sobering War Remnants Museum. Next we’ll introduce you to the colorful the Jade Emperor Pagoda- one of the most beautiful pagoda in Saigon with Wonderful wooden statues and richly decorated altars. The morning will end with a beautiful Vietnamese authentic lunch at a Vietnam’s possible best Pho (rice-noodle soup with beef or chicken) restaurant, Pho Hoa, before heading to Cuchi Tunnels.
PM: A pleasant 60 km drive through many beautiful paddy fields heading northwest of Saigon, you are going to visit a massive underground network located near by the area once called "Iron Triangle" and was the termination of the Ho Chi Minh Trail. The tunnels were designed by local guerrillas as a “springboard for attacking Saigon.” The area was used for infiltrating Saigon-intelligence agents, part cadres, and sabotage teams. The Tết Offensive of 1968 was prepared and the necessary troops and supplies assembled in the Củ Chi tunnels. The tunnels were used by Viet Cong guerrillas as hiding spots during combat, as well as serving as communication and supply routes, hospitals, food and weapon caches and living quarters for numerous guerrilla fighters. The role of the tunnel systems was so important to the Viet Cong in resisting American operations and protracting the war, eventually persuading the weary Americans into withdrawal. You have change to experience the underground life of peasants and guerrillas during the war by through 30m, 50m, or 120m length of tunnel. The tunnels have been made larger to accommodate the larger sized western tourists, while low-power lights have been installed in several of them to make traveling through them easier and booby traps have been clearly marked.
Visitors can fire some old types of rifle at Cuchi shooting range.
Back to your hotel or drop you at Ben Thanh Night Market. End trip.
NOTE: People with any heart-complications or claustrophobia should not go through the tunnels. Going down and have some photos taken should be fine.
