I. VISA AND CUSTOMS
1. CUSTOMS
Customs procedures in Vietnam are quick and simple. To enter and exit Vietnam, visitors are required to fulfill the arrival - departure declaration
Customs Information:
1.- Passengers are given duty free allowance for not more than 1.5 liters of liquor with above 22 degrees of concentration of alcohol and 2 liters of liquor below 22 degrees of concentration of alcohol; 400 cigarettes; 100 cigars; 500 gram of raw tobacco.
- Other items which are allowed in accompanying baggage are duty free with value not over VND 5,000,000.
- Passengers bringing goods exceeding the amount as above stated are required to fill in the declaration form No.HQ/2002-PMD and pay duty (ies) according to Vietnamese laws.
2. Passengers who goods are not subject to customs declaration on page 4, 5 (For customs declaration) do not have to declare.
2. VISA PROCEDURES
Most visitors to Vietnam need a visa to enter the country. Visas are exempted for the citizens of the countries, which have signed a bilateral or unilateral visa exemption agreement with Vietnam, tourist visa may be valid for 15 to 30 days
Customs Information
Tourist visa can only be obtained in Vietnamese embassies, consulates abroad. Otherwise, you can get a visa at the border gates if you are invitees of some Vietnamese competent organs or you are travelling on a package tour organized by Vietnamese travel companies. To apply for a visa, the requirements are as follows:
· Entry permit form (which can vary from one Vietnamese embassies or consulate abroad to another) - There are two categories of this form: for foreigners and for Vietnamese overseas.
· Two photos (4cmx6cm or 3cmx4cm)
· Original passport
· Visa fees
You should send your application and photos to a Vietnamese embassy or consulate abroad, which is most convenient to you. On your requirement, the reply will be returned by post (you must provide stamped envelopes with your name and address).
It is easier to get your visa from a Vietnamese travel agency. The necessary information to the travel agency includes:

- Birthday and place of birth:
- Nationality:
- Job:
- Number of your passport:
- Entry and exit dates:
- Country you plan to receive your entry visa from the Vietnamese embassies or consulates:
- Vietnamese overseas are required to provide more information:

3. WHO NEED VISA TO VIET NAM?
Only citizens of certain countries can visit Vietnam without an entry visa (valid for visit within 30 days). Those countries include: most ASEAN countries, Korea, Japan & Scandinavians (2005).
All other citizens are required to get an entry visa before departure (visa issued prior to departure by Vietnamese Consulates or Embassies) or a pre-approved entry visa (visa is issued on arrival at Vietnam’s International Airports) supplied before arrival in Vietnam.
II. VIETNAM VISA TYPE
Tourist visa: A tourist visa is usually valid for 1 month, allowing single or multiple entry.
Business Visas: A business visa is usually valid for 3 month, allowing single or multiple entry and the right to work. Getting a business visa has now become cheap and easy, although the prices are about double those of a tourist visa.
Student visas: A student visa is usually arranged after your arrival. It's acceptable to enter Vietnam on a tourist visa, enroll in a Vietnamese language course and then apply at the immigration police for a change in status. In reality, the easiest way to do it is to contact a travel company and have them help you make the application.
Transit visa (or visa for city visiting): The maximum duration of this type of visa is 5 days. The Immigration Department will issue transit visa for groups in tour, accompanied with a tour guide. The group must have exact itinerary and have guarantee of a travel agency which organizing the tour.
III. HOW TO GET AND HOW MUCH?
Visas are required for all nationalities except Thai, Malaysian, Philippine, Laotian, Singaporean, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Danish, Swedish, Norwegian, Russian and Finish.
In order to get the Vietnam visa abroad an Approval Letter issued by the Vietnamese authorities can be requested in advance
What is an Approval Letter? It is a document issued by the Immigration Authorities of Vietnam that entitles the holder to apply for the Vietnamese Visa in his/her home country. The Approval Letter works as an invitation from the Government that states the exact dates a person can visit Vietnam within.

STEP 3 Getting the visa in your home country
Passengers go to the Vietnamese Embassy in their home country, bring the passport together with the Approval Letter sent by PINK LOTUS TRAVEL and pay the fee on spot in order to get the Vietnam Visa. Fees may vary from one country to another.
Upon passenger’s arrival to the airport they get the Vietnam visa on their passports (25USD/person to be paid by passengers at the airport).

We obtain what is called an “Letter of Approval” for you from the Viet Nam Immigration Department. After obtaining the approval for you, we will forward you a copy by fax or email. Copies of the same document will be forwarded on your behalf to Vietnam Immigration checkpoints at International Airports only, so that when you arrive in Viet Nam, the Immigration officers will have those documents on hand and will be able to issue your entry visa expediently.

If you are now in Vietnam for tourism or business and you want to extend your stay out of your current visa duration, change visa type, renew or extend your visa…The extension or renewal of Vietnam visa is so easy nowadays. Note:
- Tourists can stayover 1 day in Vietnam from expired date of their Vietnam visa. If tourist want to stayover longer, they should be renew or extend Vietnam visa.
- If the tourist stayover 2 days or more in Vietnam (from expired date in Vietnam visa), you will be punish by Vietnam immigration (from $30US/1 day stayover). - Not more than 30 days: for citizens of Thailand, Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and Laos.
- Not more than 15 days: for citizens of Japan and South Korea, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Russian Federation (from 1 Jan 2009).
- French citizens holding valid diplomatic passports are exempt from visa requirements when visiting Vietnam and are allowed to stay for up 3 months at one time or on several visits within six months since their first immigration dates. Vietnamese citizens holding valid diplomatic passports also enjoy similar privileges.
- Citizens of Chile and Vietnam holding valid diplomatic or official passports from one of the two countries are exempt from needing entry, exit and transit visas in the other's territory and are allowed to stay for up 60 days on each visit.
- An agreement on visa exemption for diplomatic and official passport holders signed between Vietnam and the Republic of Paraguay’s governments will take effect as from October 26, 2008 announced the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Under the agreement which was signed on March 8, 2007 in Asuncion, the two countries’ diplomatic and official passport holders whose residence does not exceed 90 days will be exempted from visa.
The agreement will also allow visa exemption throughout the term of office for those who are members of diplomatic missions, consular offices or representatives of international organizations as well as members of their families.

5-YEAR VIETNAM VISA EXEMPTION FOR OVERSEAS VIETNAMESE
Under a decision issued by VietnameseState, from 1st September 2007 overseas Vietnamese will be granted 5-year visa exemption certificate. To get it, they must fulfill some formalities to be granted a visa exemption verification document, which is valid for many times of traveling and valid within five years.
The maximal residency time in Vietnam is 90 days each time. If they want to stay longer, they must ask for visas and fulfill extension formalities in Vietnam.
They have defined three subjects of overseas Vietnamese who will enjoy visa exemption: The people who have Vietnamese nationality; Vietnamese people who hold foreign nationalities; Foreigners who are wives, husbands, children of Vietnamese or Vietnamese who hold foreign nationalities.
A certificate must be obtained by the passport holders for the exemption to be utilized.
In order to be granted visa exemption certificates at Vietnamese representative offices abroad, overseas Vietnamese need to submit one of three following documents: A document that proves they are ethnically Vietnamese; A guarantee by overseas Vietnamese associations based in the country where they are residents of or by a Vietnamese citizen and a document by authorized foreign agencies certifying that they are ethnically Vietnamese.
Husbands, wives and children of Vietnamese people living abroad will also need to submit documents that prove their relationship to the Vietnamese member of their immediate family.
The Committee for overseas Vietnamese has sent 200,000 visa exemption certificates to Vietnamese embassies World wide.

1. For Vietnamese people are residing abroad, profile comprises:
a. 01 application form for visa exemption certificate.
b. 02 recent 4 x 6cm photos with white background, straight face, bare head, no colored glasses (01 photo attached to the application form and 01 spare photo)
c. Foreign passports or equivalent documents with validity of at least 6 months upto date of entry. If the applicant does not have a passport, he/she must submit a permanent resident’s permit issued by foreign authorities with the validity of at least 6 months upto the date of entry (with attached copy for competent authority to file)
d. One of the following documents (attached copy for competent authority to file) if available:
- A certificate of Vietnamese citizenship;
- A copy or excerpt of the Decision for Recovery of Vietnamese citizenship;
- A copy or excerpt of the Decision for Renunciation of Vietnamese citizenship;
- Certificate of Lost of Vietnamese citizenship;
- A Vietnamese passport (valid or invalid)
- An Identity Card (valid or invalid)
- A Birth Certificate (Copy accepted)
- The latest voter’s card
- A Family Register Book
- A travel document issued before 1975
- An Identity Card issued before 1975
- An Excerpt from Birth Register issued before 1975
- Documents issued by competent foreign authorities if they can prove that the person in question has original Vietnamese citizenship or of Vietnamese origin.
e. In case of not having documents listed at section (d), the following documents could be submitted:
- A guarantee issued by an overseas Vietnamese association from the country of residence (in due form provided)
- A guarantee from a Vietnamese citizen (in due form provided)
The said documents do not need require further certification or verification.
2. With holders of foreign passports being wives, husbands, and children of a Vietnamese citizen or Vietnamese residing abroad, the attached file comprises of:
a. 01 application form for a visa exemption certificate.
b. 02 recent 4 x 6 cm photos with white background, straight face, bare head, without colored glasses. (01 attached to the application form, 01 spare photo).
c. A foreign passport with validity of at least 6 months upto date of entry (a copy attached for competent authority to file)
d. One of documents proving relationship between wives/husbands/children and the Vietnamese residing abroad (a copy attached for competent authority to file)
- Certificate of Marriage
- Certificate of Birth
- A Certificate of relationship with farther, mother, children;
- Other valid documents as regulated by the Vietnamese Law.

3. The re-issuance or from the second issuance of Certificate of Visa Exemption:
In case of applying for the re-issuance the Certificate of Visa Exemption (due to lost of visa exemption certificate or expired visa exemption certificate or issuance of new passport) at the initial issuing competent authorities, the applicant only needs to submit 01 application form with no certification of Vietnamese residing abroad required.
In case of application for re-issuance of Certificate of Visa Exemption (due to visa exemption certificate lost or expired) not submitted to the initial issuing agency, the applicant is required to submit all the documents as per the procedures applied to first-time issuance of Certificate of Visa Exemption.

AIRPORT FAST TRACK SERVICE

Especially arriving passengers, sometimes accompanied by their families, are tired and impatient to conclude entry procedures as smoothly and quickly as possible. For those departing with a lot of luggage and impatient children such long procedures and waiting queues also demand strong patience.

Upon arrival guests will be welcomed upon leaving the airplane and entering the airport-building by especially assigned welcome staff holding up a sign-board with the guest’s names. 1. Principles
